Is Laminar Security Getting Sold

Laminar

Oran Avraham CTO Laminar

Laminar Security, an Israeli startup that provides public cloud data security services, is looking for a buyer. Calcalist reported that the firm hopes to sell for as much as $250 million.

Founded in 2020, Laminar’s Cloud Data Security Platform protects data for everything you build and run in the cloud across cloud providers and cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake. The platform autonomously and continuously discovers and classifies new datastores for complete visibility, prioritizes risk based on sensitivity and data risk posture, secures data by remediating weak controls and actively monitors for egress and access anomalies. Designed for the multi cloud, the architecture takes an API-only approach, without any agents, and without sensitive data ever leaving your environment.

Cybersecurity is more important than ever. Hackers are not only motivated by money or politics. They often just like being malicious. So even small companies need to be on their guard and be sure to properly protect their systems.

And everything is going into the cloud these days. Do you use Google Docs, or any of the other Google services? Well then all of your files are stored in servers located around the world. The same thing is also now true with MS Office which offers customers cloud based software services. Notebook computers have always had a limited storage capacity. And more and more people are switching to tablets which do not offer the same services as a computer. So cloud services will soon be standard.

The Laminar Data Security Platform has been honored with four cybersecurity industry distinctions over the course of just two months. Laminar took home three golds in the 2023 Cybersecurity Excellence Awards for Cloud Native Security North America, Data Cloud Security in the Middle East, and Best Cybersecurity Startup. It also took first in the Next-Gen DSPM category at the Global InfoSec Awards during the 2023 RSA Conference in late April.

Laminar recently announced updates to its DSPM platform with enterprise ready and full data security support for the four largest cloud service providers. Additionally, Laminar is the first pure-play data security posture management (DSPM) solution to achieve the Amazon Web Services Security Competency certification, and the platform received RDS Ready Product Designation from Amazon.

“These achievements reinforced by the team’s dedication demonstrates the value we are providing customers. Our customer’s data is their business and as that data proliferates so does the risk of a breach,” said Amit Shaked, CEO and co-founder of Laminar. “At Laminar, we help enable our customers to continue to innovate with data, but without the risk. Implementing a cloud-native security solution is critical to achieving agile data security for today’s cloud environments.”
