Edge Gaming, the gaming platform that enables players to produce and play high-quality user-generated highlights, today announced a $10 million funding round to continue expanding its new “Playables” format, which will launch with major AAA games.

The seed round is led by Playtika and includes current investors Stardom Ventures and AnD Ventures.

Co-founded in mid-2020 by siblings and avid gamers Asaf and Omri Gazit, Edge Gaming platform effectively transforms any gamer into a game designer by allowing them to create “Playables” – bespoke mini-games based on existing gameplay events (for example, “clutch” circumstances).

Playables can be produced and shared instantaneously, allowing players to mimic their favorite gamers’, Esports players’, or friends’ best gameplay moments.

The platform is powered by a patent-pending deep technology engine that enables a frictionless “choose and create” process for creating Playables that mimic the flow of creating short-form videos on platforms like Tiktok and Instagram.

Edge Gaming will use the proceeds to expand their hiring and further develop their platform, which is presently in closed beta with select content creator partners.

Additionally, the round will fund the enhancement of the “Playables” no-code engine and its capabilities, which will initially be available in popular AAA titles before expanding to a broader range of titles. The company will pursue blockchain connections to enable play-to-earn and NFT processes.

“With ‘Playables’, game developers can focus on perfecting the graphics and physics of their games while players themselves will be empowered to determine how the games are played and interacted with on their own terms,” says Asaf Gazit, Co-founder, and CEO of Edge Gaming. “This round is a vote of confidence in that new vision for gaming and the value it brings to developers and gamers alike. We look forward to continuing on our mission to put gamers in the driver’s seat.” “There are great products, great market opportunities, and great timing, but seldom does a company check all three boxes the way that Edge Gaming does,” said Lee Moser, Managing Partner at AnD Ventures.

“The way entertainment is consumed today – smaller content bites, higher frequency, hyper-customization, driven by creators and their communities – is finally being applied into games. Edge Gaming is enabling the future of gaming engagement by allowing players to get far more value from the games they love and the creators they follow.”

“Edge ‘Playables’ format is the key to unlocking the full potential of social connection between gamers by offering countless new gameplay scenarios that further engage and enable gamers to enhance their skills,” said Raz Friedman, CPO of Playtika. ”It’s going to change gaming as we know it, and we’re excited to support Edge with our vast expertise and knowledge in the gaming ecosystem, and through this investment gain a meaningful reach into the Esports and creator economy worlds”.

Edge Gaming is a user-generated content gaming platform that enables users to easily create “Playables” from their favorite gaming memories. Edge’s patent-pending deep technology enables any player to convert a gameplay highlight into a playable mini-game that they can share with their friends and community, inviting them to take part in various challenges. The new experience, which is presently in closed beta, puts players and game communities in control, empowering them to actively create an almost infinite number of high-quality game situations while relieving game studios of the costs and effort associated with continuous game content generation.
