Newt is a new Israeli company in the medtech field which deals with nutrition. Newt has developed an AI-powered platform which tracks a user’s daily habits in order to create a personal diet to keep people’s diets and nutritional goals in check.

As the saying goes: “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” So people should be at least as concerned with what they eat as they are with working out and getting proper preventative healthcare.

So the idea here is to personalize your needs and your consumption based on what you actually do as an individual and not some generic ideas written in a diet book which never really fit ever individual.

Founded in 2019 by its CEO Gil Kerbs, Newt is an AI company helping amateur athletes get personalized nutrition that allows them achieve their goals. The company says that it utilizes both clinical and behavioral elements to ensure anyone can benefit from the most up to date research and can apply it to their day-to-day life.

Krebs worked for four years in senior marketing positions at Medtronic in China. He has an MBA from Wharton, speaks Chinese and “breathes Medtech innovation.”

In an interview with Globes, Gil Kerbs explained that he based his new company on what he learned living in China. He said that Israel is great at developing solutions for all sorts of illnesses caused by poor nutrition, from new medical procedures to better medications. But what about dealing with poor nutrition itself.

On this Gil Krebs said that he learned of the importance of improving nutrition to prevent diseases instead of curing them in China, “because in Chinese culture, prevention is as important as a cure.”

A serious diet is complex. Should you eat fruit or not? And if so how much and which ones? Is breakfast really the most important meal of the day? or is it better to eat later on?

Girl Kerbs explained how a person cannot simply, “Google ‘Which nutrition is best?’ and get a reliable answer. Every person’s body has different purposes, different limitations, and every menu has different combinations. It’s like you taking medicine without consulting your doctor.”

So that is why he founded Newt.
