Work-From-Home Businesses That Bring in Actual Cash

By Contributing Author

The Internet is a great place to look for business ideas, but not every recommendation you come across on your laptop is going to be the most profitable. Many business ideas serve as passive income streams or require ample time and a large budget to get started. Are you looking to launch your own side hustle or small business at home? If so, here are a few work-from-home businesses that bring in actual cash you should look into!

1. Accounting and Tax Preparation

Business users and everyday people alike need a pro who can help them with their finances and tax prep. If they are trying to prepare for certain financial responsibilities in their life, they will also need a reliable source of additional information that can guide them through their earnings, savings, and investment goals.

If you are great with customer interaction and know your financial stuff, you can easily establish yourself as a financial consultant, accountant, or tax preparer. Home-based accountants can easily make $50,000 year or more, depending on your personal skills. Of course, if you are not working with anyone, you will want to remember that you will have to take care of all of your organizational needs, such as downloading a CRM to organize your clients.

2. PC Repair/Building

A lot of us know a little about how our laptop or PC functions. For example, we know that we either have a hard drive or an SSD that acts as a storage device for all of our information, an operating system that allows us to use our pc and provides compatibility for certain apps, and comes with slots for important attachments such as our headsets or our 32gb flash drive. However, if you are someone who knows a great deal about your own PC (or PCs in general) and believes that you are a pro PC builder or a pro PC repairer, you can make a substantial amount of money this way.

One great market to target are the gamers, who are often looking for a PC build with a serious operating system, a graphics card that can handle their needs (often Nvidia or Ryzen), a screen with higher resolutions, a CPU cooler that prevents their gaming PC from overheating, an internal storage device with something in the high gigabyte to terabyte range, and a power supply that will keep their PC running for as long as possible. If you are a builder with extensive knowledge about setting up motherboards, CPU, GPU, and processors, you can make quite a profit in this market.

3. Programming and Coding

Sometimes, you don’t have to be knowledgable about some of the things mentioned above in order to make money with technology. Not everyone who makes money online knows how to build their own personal motherboard, equipped with a large SSD or HDD and processor that will give users what they want.

What is cooler, however, is to tackle the needs of those who require a programmer who can build their website and perform regular maintenance. If you are familiar with programming languages like JavaScript, traditional channels that business owners use to establish their website and integrations they may need to be successful (like chatbots). Becoming a remote programmer is a highly competitive feat, but if you learn the right language (such as Ruby) you can easily make around $61/hour.

4. Working for a Call Center

All businesses need individuals who are willing to work for their contact center and provide their users with excellent customer experience. These types of home-based jobs are abundant. If you have a background in customer service, have the proper computing power or are willing to install products and hardware used by enterprise companies. You are looking at a long-term, reliable stream of income. You may also want to look into SMS chat or live chat opportunities.

If you look hard enough, there are earning opportunities everywhere. Start your search for the most profitable options with the list provided above, and you are on your way to making extra money from the comfort of your own home!
