The website promises to be just like Facebook, but without any explicit content.

Are you a Christian evangelical who does not use Facebook because it has too many revealing pictures and/or sexually explicit inuendo and postings? Well you are in lucl. A new social media site called Facgloria has arrived.

But you need to speak Portuguese because for now it is only available in Brazil. But obviously it won’t be long before people from every conceivable religious group decide to knock off the idea.

A team of 20 volunteers check up on the content to make sure that its users are honoring the site’s terms of use which prohibit any negative comments about other religions and the posting of provocative materials.

“On Facebook there is a lot of violence and pornography, so we thought we’d create a social network where we could talk about God and love and spread His word, ” web designer and Facegloria co-founder Atilla Barros told AFP. “We want to be morally and structurally better than Facebook.”

But they do have plans to expand into English.

“Our network is global, ” he said. “We have bought the equivalent domain name in English and in all possible languages. We want to take on Facebook and Twitter here and everywhere.”
