Star of “Big Eyes, ” Amy Adams, was supposed to be interviewed on NBC’s Today Show, but when she forewarned that she refused to discuss Sony’s hacked emails, the interview was cancelled, as reported by the Jewish Voice. In addition to other disturbing revelations that surfaced in the wake of the Sony email hacking scandal, it became known that Amy Adams and Jennifer Lawrence were paid significantly less than male actors in “American Hustle.” Adams told the Today Show executives that she did not want to answer questions about this, since she felt uncomfortable talking negatively about friends. Today Show host Matt Lauer tried to patch things up with producer Harvey Weinstein, but the latter says he wants a formal and public apology to the actress herself, and said there should be an investigation into the issue.
A Today show representative said that it is not the program’s policy to allow interviewees to put restrictions on what kind of questions are asked. When American Hustle co-star Bradley Cooper was interviewed, he was not asked about the leaked emails. Adams wanted to promote the new film Big Eyes, but NBC executives decided that, given her unwillingness to answer certain questions, they felt it was better to pull the interview.
