Director Steven Spielberg has started filming in Berlin a Cold War spy thriller titled St. James Palace, starring Tom Hanks.

The new film, being shot in New York and Berlin, is based on the true story of James Donovan, an attorney who ended up in the middle of the Cold War after the CIA had sent him to represent the United States in negotiating the release of a captured U-2 pilot.

Spielberg’s co-producers include Marc Platt (“Drive”) and Adam Somner (“The Wolf of Wall Street”).

The screenplay was written by three time Academy Award winners Joel and Ethan Coen (“No Country For Old Men”).

The film’s U.S. release is scheduled for October 16, 2015.
