Joan Rivers’ Daughter Inherits $75 Million and Manhattan Apt., Suing Mom’s Doctors

DoSomething.org And VH1's 2013 Do Something Awards - Show

Joan Rivers’ daughter Melissa intends to sue the medical center where she died according to TMZ. It has also been revealed that Melissa Rivers has inherited $75 million in cash and an Upper East Side Condominium worth $35 million from her mother Joan.

Apparently, a lawsuit is the only way for the younger Rivers to find out exactly what caused her mother’s death. As of today only Yorkville Endoscopy LLC, where Joan Rivers died, and the New York Department of Health know the real reason why she stopped breathing.

A law suit will allow Melissa Rivers’ lawyers to depose the staff of Yorkville and force them to answer direct questions about her mother’s death.

The 46 year old only child who co-starred with her mother on the E Channel’s show Fashion Police received the bulk of the late comedian’s estate. Her 13 year old son received his own inheritance.

“[The inheritance is] no consolation losing her mother so soon, ” a source close to the family told US Magazine.

Located at 1 East 62nd Street, the apartment is decorated with candelabra like light fixtures on its walls, white decorative drapes and has hardwood floors. Support beams that separate the living areas are decorated to look like Greek columns and the spacious master bath has a standalone ornate tub.

Totaling more than 5, 000 square feet in space, the apartment has floor to ceiling windows, wood burning fireplaces, a parlor, a mezzanine floor and a second floor. It has been on the market for several years now.
