Joan Rivers has made a career out of making people laugh and insulting other celebrities. Unfortunately, for her, not everyone is laughing at her latest book as actress Kristen Stewart has threatened a law suit over it.

Diary of a Mad Diva is Joan Rivers’ new book and in it she makes some harsh comments about Stewart. When referring to the young actress’ affair with the director of her 2012 film Snow White and the Huntsman, Rupert Sanders, Rivers wrote: “Many stars only do one thing well. Of course, the best one-trick-pony is Kristen Stewart, who got a whole career by being able to juggle a director’s balls.”

As Rivers told TMZ “I am now being sued by Kristen Stewart. She obviously didn’t read our disclaimer, which says it’s a comedy book. I can’t wait to get her into court because I’m gonna get a puppet and I want her to show me on the puppet where she thinks I claim she touched her director. I am looking forward to it.”

“Her lawyer contacted my lawyer, which shows the sense of humor she has. My answer to her was, ‘Be glad you’re not a Kardashian because they’re mentioned a lot more in the book. I’m a comedian. I’ve been doing it for 50 years. If people don’t get it, then don’t come and see me. It’s okay. Don’t read the book. If you’re gonna take it seriously, you’re a fool.”

Let’s hope for Rivers’ sake that Stewart is the only one of the stars who is skewered in her new book to be so thin skinned. Rivers reportedly also lambasts Lena Dunham, Taylor Swift, Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Aniston and Miley Cyrus.

Born Joan Alexandra Molinsky on June, 8 1933, Joan Rivers is possibly the most Iconic female American standup comedian of all time. She was born in Brooklyn to Russian Jewish immigrants and is a graduate of Columbia University in New York’s women’s school Barnard College.

She got her start in the 1950s co-starring with Barbra Streisand in a short run play. After that she began her standup career performing at renowned locations such as The Gaslight Café and The Bitter End. Her big break came when she first appeared on America’s most successful talk show of all time, The Tonight Show in the 1960s, then hosted by Jack Paar.

Rivers would appear on the Tonight Show more than seventy times and rise to become Johnny Carson’s guest host in the 1980s. But in 1986 she chose to star in her own late night talk show on the new Fox network which competed head to head with the Tonight Show on NBC. That program lasted only two years and Johnny Carson never forgave her for what he saw as a betrayal for going up against him. Carson felt that Rivers owed him for making her career and band Rivers from the show. She never returned, not even after Carson retired in 1992.

But Rivers rebounded after her failure on Fox and has had a modestly successful daytime talk show. She is now best known for her program on the E entertainment cable channel, The Fashion Police, where, together with her daughter Melissa, Rivers critiques the attire of celebrities.

Joan and Melissa Rivers also work as a team for E interviewing celebrities on the red carpet as they enter important awards shows.

Diary of a Mad Diva will be released in July.
