Larry Silverstein’s new 3 World Trade Center is nearing completion. The developer told the New York Post that he expects the new office tower to be completed by 2018.
Construction on the 80 story tower was delayed due to lack of funding, but Silverstein got the needed money and work has begun again. Last fall a $1.8 billion bond plan was approved for the building.

A very excited Silverstein told the Post, “The steel will top out in December 2016. By 2018 we’ll have a finished building. I’m very excited about activity now taking place.”
“Beyond that, Tower 2 will ultimately follow, ” he said. “And then we’ll have essentially finished the new World Trade Center.”
Silverstein owned one of the old World Trade Center buildings which was destroyed on September 11, 2001.
