We know, the EPL season has barely only started, and Premier League odds experts haven’t really had a clear vision of what this season has in store, but that doesn’t mean we are blindsided by the fact that there are already three coaches who look like they’re not where they should be. While on the other spectra of the conversation we could talk about coaches who look poised to make this season their best one yet, with names like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Brendan Rogers, Thomas Tuchel and Nuno Espirito Santo all jumping out as top candidates for a breakout season, there’s a whole other crowd to talk about, the coaches who we can’t honestly see making it to the end of the EPL season.
With that said, here are our picks for the three coaches with the most chances of seeing their present coaching tenures being done before the end of the season.

Mikel Arteta, Arsenal
It’s not fair to blame former Arsenal player Mikel Arteta for the hardship that his team has endured for the past few months, but at the end of the day, it’s not like he has done much to turn things around for the Gunners. Yes, Arteta has taken Arsenal to win two titles since his arrival at Arsenal, with a FA Cup win in 2019 and a Community Shield win in 2020, but his team’s performance in the EPL has been nothing short of sad and at points cringy. Now, again, you could blame the upper offices of the team for not making any true efforts to strengthen the team through the summer transfer window, but given Arsenal’s status right now, not a lot of top-tier players are interested in going to London to play for the Gunners.
After an atrocious start to the new EPL season, without any points won nor any goals scored, the time bomb under Arteta’s seat as Arsenal coach has begun to tik and tok faster and faster. Do we believe if given the proper chances that he can turn this whole situation and team around? Sure, why not, it doesn’t hurt to believe, but the feeling around Arsenal feels more and more like they’re ready to give Arteta the boot and start over with someone new. If given the chance to continue instead of getting the boot, he has to be able to turn this team around right now and manage to put Arsenal in the top 4 places of the EPL by December. If he does this then he will probably live to see out his contract, which ends in 2023, but if not, well you know what will happen.
Steve Bruce, Newcastle United
Life is hard for Steve Bruce right now, at least in his tenure as Newcastle United coach. After the team managed to only sign one player in total during the summer transfer window, by bringing in former Arsenal player Joe Willock, even though Bruce had been looking for his team to be a more present player in the transfer market, asking for a strong center back to strengthen his defense and a midfielder, with Leicester’s Hamza Choudhury being his top pick, Bruce has basically been left with the worst hand to play within the Premier League.
The lackluster start of the season, added to Bruce’s already defeated stance and pessimistic attitude have done absolutely no good in the hopes of trying to turn things around for Newcastle. The thing is, Bruce is not necessarily wrong for feeling the way he feels, as the team feels like it’s more interested in what could happen upon an eventual takeover of the club feels like it’s bound to happen. But still though, if Steve Bruce was given a competitive squad to work with, or at least the chance to sign a couple of players, on loan evenly, maybe that could be a turning point for him and his team, but given that that’s not really going to happen, we cannot honestly see Steve Bruce manning Newcastle United until the end of the EPL season.
Patrick Vieira, Crystal Palace
Remember the times where Crystal Palace kind of worked? Yeah, the Sam Allardyce days. Crystal Palace didn’t necessarily play the best football, ok, no, in all seriousness, they did not play good football, but they managed to make the team work. Well, those days are long gone, especially after Crystal Palace apparently not having learned anything from the short-lived tenure that Dutchman Frank De Boer had as Palace’s manager last season. It can be kind of hard to remember him as Palace’s manager since he only lasted 5 games before being sacked but yeah, he was there.
Well, with former Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira as their new coach, Crystal Palace does not look anywhere close to being poised for this to be a renewal season. The team plays unimaginably, with a lackluster offense and a defense that looks like they can’t even tell where they have to stand. All I can is that if De Boer only lasted five games before getting the boot, how many games will it take for Vieira to be shown the exit door?
