New Israeli startup Lumana, which was founded by a former senior exec at Intel, offers a next-generation video security platform that uses artificial intelligence (AI) and distributed hybrid cloud architecture, enabling organizations to “unlock the full potential of their visual data.” Lumana just came out of stealth with a $24 million seed funding round led by Norwest and S Capital.

Lumana says it is positioned to take advantage of a market that is expected to be worth $38 billion by 2030.

A hybrid cloud architecture is an IT environment that combines public cloud, private cloud, and on-premises infrastructure to create a flexible and scalable IT solution. It allows businesses to leverage the benefits of both public and private clouds, such as the public cloud’s scalability and cost-effectiveness and the private cloud’s security and control.

It offers increased flexibility and scalability: Businesses can easily scale their IT resources up or down as needed by moving workloads between the public and private cloud, as well as improved cost efficiency: Businesses can only pay for the public cloud resources they use, which can help to save money.

Founded in 2021 by CEO Sagi Ben Moshe, who served previously as general manager of Intel Israel’s Emerging Growth and Incubation Group, Lumana boasts that it is “pioneering the future of security with visual AI” and that its tech provides “near-human-like perception to help eliminate monitoring fatigue, false alarms, and reactive security management.”

Self-learning AI models are deployed throughout the system, explains Lumana. This, says the company enables it to “continuously get smarter, more accurate, and more predictive based on an organization’s environment”. Lumana’s enterprise-grade AI helps organizations instantly analyze vast amounts of video, accelerate response to a specific activity, and use advanced video search functionality to locate footage quickly.

“Visual AI enhances our ability to extract data and make smarter decisions. Historically, getting useful information from video has been time-consuming, cost-prohibitive, and manual,” said Sagi Ben Moshe, founder and CEO of Lumana, who previously served as Chief Incubation Officer and General Manager of the Emerging Growth and Incubation Group at Intel following the acquisition of his 3D Imaging company in 2012. “Lumana democratizes visual intelligence, ensuring that organizations of any size — from school districts and cities to commercial businesses and even Fortune 500 companies — can access the latest and greatest AI technology to improve situational awareness and extract impactful insights. Our platform empowers every user with the ability to accurately analyze massive amounts of footage and concentrate on events that truly matter.”
