Kfir Bibas – baby hostage held by Hamas in Gaza
The youngest Israeli held hostage by Hamas terrorists in Gaza, Kfir Bibas, turns one year old today, Thursday, January 18, after spending 104 days in captivity. In all that time there has been no proof of life offered by Hamas terrorists who at one point reneged on a promise to release her in a prison exchange that was held in November.
Her four-year-old brother Ariel and her parents are also still held captive.
Headlines of Israeli publications all refer to today as the “saddest” birthday in the world. Unfortunately, the world’s media is not paying much attention to this sad event.

Kfir Bibas was taken hostage during the October 7 massacre from her home at Kibbutz Nir Oz. The kibbutz, which is located along Israel’s border with Gaza, was one of several Israeli towns destroyed in the barbaric attack. Many innocent civilians, including babies, were murdered on that day, some were even burned alive.
The survivors of Kibbutz Nir Oz, along with those of the other places attacked like Kibbutz Kfar Aza and Nahal Oz, were forced to abandon what was left of their homes and seek refuge in other parts of Israel due to the security situation in the area caused by the ongoing war I Gaza.
But this did not stop the people of Nir Oz from holding a celebration marking Kfir Bibas’ birthday. Even though they do not know if she is still alive or not the people still celebrate her life.
On Thursday night, Israel’s most famous comedy troupe “Zehu Zeh” (This is It) will sing a special lullaby at the end of their weekly television show in honor of Kfir Bibas. The group, known as the Monty Python of Israel, altered its program since the October 7 attack to express the somber mood prevailing in Israel.
The performance was prerecorded. In their introduction to the song the performers say, “Just today, January 18, Kfir Bibass is one year old. It is not acceptable that for more than a hundred days, this sweet baby and 135 other men, women and children are in captivity somewhere in Gaza. So we want to sing a lullaby to the Kfir in honor of the birthday and pray that everyone will return home soon. Amen!
Yifat Zeiler, a cousin of Kfir Bibas’, told Israel’s Kan 11 News, “The mobilization of Israel’s artists and especially this gesture of ‘This is it’ moves us very much. This mainly testifies to the mutual guarantee and unity in the nation when it comes to the return of the abductees now. We with full faith continue to fight to bring them home, Jordan, Shiri, Kfir and Ariel.”
