Antony Blinken, the U.S. Secretary of State, declared the administration of President Joe Biden and America itself are committed to continuing with the country’s special relationship with Israel and to guaranteeing Israel’s security. The remarks came when Blinken spoke at the 2023 American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) policy summit in Washington, DC. Antony Blinken also said that the Biden Administration wants to see an expansion of the 220 Abraham Accords, with more Arab nations expanding ties with Israel, and will even create a new post to make that happen.

On that note, Antony Blinken said, “Israel’s further integration in the region (the Middle East) contributes to a more stable, more secure and more prosperous region. That’s why President Biden has made it a cornerstone of his Middle East policy.”

“We will soon create a new position to further our diplomacy and engagement with governments and private sector, nongovernmental organizations, all working toward a more peaceful and a more connected region,” added Blinken.

In 2020, the Abraham Accords brought peace between Israel and the two Arab Gulf States of Bahrain and the UAE. Later, the two Arab African nations of Sudan and Morocco also joined the accords.

One Arab nation that has been rumored to be considering establishing official ties with Israel is Saudi Arabia.

About that country, Blinken said, “The United States has a real national security interest in promoting normalization between Israel and Saudi Arabia. We believe we can and must play an integral role in advancing it.”

Saudi Arabia recently warmed a bit to Israel when it allowed airlines to fly through its air space for flights coming and going to Israel. The country is also working to allow Muslim-Israeli pilgrims fly to Mecca for the Haj on direct flights from Israel.

On Israel and America’s special relationship, Antony Blinken said that America’s friendship with Israel, “touches on every aspect of our lives, from security to business, from energy to public health. And the depth and breadth of that partnership between our governments are matched only by the strength of the ties between our peoples.”

“This partnership between the United States and Israel is indispensable,” he declared.

“The US-Israel relationship is underwritten by the United States’ commitment to Israel’s security. That commitment is non-negotiable; it is ironclad,” Antony Blinken added about America’s commitment to Israel’s security. “This year, we have more joint [military] exercises scheduled [with Israel] than at any point in our history.”

“America is more secure when Israel is strong,” he added.
