DiA Imaging Analysis, an Israeli startup that provides AI-driven ultrasound analysis to help clinicians with their procedures, was acquired by Philips Healthcare Imaging, a British firm that offers radiology solutions. The purchase price was not disclosed.

Founded in the Ofakim technological incubator in 2009 by CEO Dr. Hila Goldman-Aslan and CTO Dr. Michal Yaacobi based on research at Ben Gurion University of the Negev, DiA Imaging Analysis is a global provider of FDA-cleared and CE-marked ultrasound AI software that automates how clinicians use and analyze ultrasound images. The company’s LVivo product line for cardiac and abdominal automated analysis allows clinicians with varying levels of ultrasound experience to automatically analyze ultrasound images increasing speed, efficiency, and accuracy.

The Mayo Clinic explains that diagnostic ultrasound, also called sonography or diagnostic medical sonography, is an imaging method that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of structures within your body. The images can provide valuable information for diagnosing and treating a variety of diseases and conditions.

Most people think of ultrasound as something used mostly on pregnant women to see their fetus and determine its health. But ultrasounds are used for a wide variety of medical purposes, such as check for Kidney stones, to diagnose gallbladder disease, check a breast lump and much more.

Most ultrasound examinations are done using an ultrasound device outside your body, though some involve placing a device inside your body.
DiA makes the use and analysis of ultrasound images smarter and accessible to all by empowering ultrasound users with AI. The company has invented an AI-based technology that transforms the way clinicians capture and analyze ultrasound images.

Instead of the visual subjective analysis done today, DiA offers Al-Based solutions that enable users to identify clinical indications and abnormalities, objectively and accurately. By using AI, DiA declares that it solves the two main challenges ultrasound users are struggling with today: how to capture the right image and how to analyze it correctly.

Hila Goldman-Aslan said, “Philips joined as an investor in our most recent financing round and we have been in close contact with them for two years. They contacted us several months ago with an acquisition offer. The company was not looking to be acquired, we had financing but we know that this is a good match.”
