Time 100 Gala and Impact Awards Coming to Jerusalem

TIME

Sylvan Adams at the TIME Person of the Year

Time, the global media brand, will host the TIME100 Gala and Impact Awards in Jerusalem, Israel, in May 2023. The event will be presented in partnership with philanthropist Sylvan Adams and will recognize individuals from around the world contributing to building a better world through innovation and social impact.

However, Time isn’t what it used to be. Once upon a Time, the magazine was the biggest and best known weekly source of news in the world. The company expanded, owing numerous other publications and businesses. Time was so big that it eventually merged with Warner Brothers to form Time Warner. But all that changed rather quickly.

As the Internet grew, print media shrunk. Weeklies were especially hit hard as by the time people read them it was all old news. Eventually, Time Warner spun off Time Inc. as a separate company once again and sold it, becoming just Warner.

But the Time name still has an influence.

The TIME100 Impact Awards recognize eight extraordinary individuals – local, regional and international – who are using their influence to build a better future around the world. The award recipients will be celebrated during an exclusive, invite-only evening gala in Jerusalem, where TIME will convene global and regional leaders, influencers, and visionaries alongside members of the TIME100 community. Previously, TIME hosted the TIME100 Impact Awards in Dubai and Singapore.

Previous installments of the TIME100 Impact Awards have recognized David Adjaye, architect and founder, Adjaye Associates; Sarah Al Amiri, U.A.E. Minister of State for Advanced Technology; Tony Elumelu, philanthropist and founder, The Tony Elumelu Foundation; Ellie Goulding, singer-songwriter and activist; Huda Kattan, entrepreneur and founder, Huda Beauty; Deepika Padukone, actor, producer and philanthropist; will.i.am, musician and entrepreneur; Alia Bhatt, actor and producer; Gregory L. Robinson, former James Webb Space Telescope Program director; Dr. Pardis Sabeti, computational geneticist; and Lea Salonga, singer and actor amongst others.

Having undertaken initial delegations to Israel in recent months, in the next few days, TIME editorial committee will begin the process of choosing the local and international winners.

Ahead of the announcement, Sylvan Adams commented, “We are proud to partner with TIME to highlight the leaders driving the latest global innovations at the first-ever TIME100 Impact Awards in Israel. This is an opportunity to showcase to TIME’s tens of millions of readers around the world the wonderful things happening here – where cooperation between Jews and Arabs, and new discoveries and innovations are everyday miracles.”
