Mark Cuban backed Fireside, an app that offers podcasters and other creators a way to host interactive, live shows with audience engagement, acquired the open streaming TV platform Stremium.

Co-founded by Falon Fatemi and Mark Cuban, Fireside is the first interactive Web3 streaming platform that turns creators and brands into the studio, networks, and streaming platforms of the future and invites audiences not to just view content, but participate in it. Fireside has already attracted creators like Jay Leno, Melissa Rivers, Craig Kilborn, and the Creator of HBO’s Entourage who are leveraging Fireside to invent new show formats and launch next generation entertainment networks.

Founded in 2018, Stremium is an open streaming TV platform with cloud DVR that allows users to aggregate their streaming TV channels into one interface.

Variety obtained a letter written by Mark Cuban’s Fireside business partner Falon Fatemi that said, “This will immediately and substantially increase the reach of IP owners, creators and brands leveraging Fireside to build the studio, networks and streaming services of the future by providing greater accessibility to existing and new audiences.”

“This enables us to deliver our industry-first, second-screen experience where the audience can use their phones to engage and interact in real-time while watching on their TVs.”

“Fireside has acquired all of Stremium including its full team and intellectual property,” Fireside spokesperson said. “The company is the first interactive web3 streaming platform and the acquisition will help Fireside accelerate delivering on being the only platform that turns creators, celebrities, brands, and IP owners into the studio, networks, and streaming services of the future. Expect other major announcements coming soon on this front.”

Fireside said that the acquisition means that Fireside will soon be available on Smart TVs and Amazon Fire TV, Roku and more. The company boasted that this will “immediately and substantially increase the reach of IP owners, creators, and brands leveraging Fireside to build the studio, networks, and streaming services of the future by providing greater accessibility to existing and new audiences.”

Firesdie said that the Stremium infrastructure will also allow the company’s creators to “seamlessly upload, publish, program, and distribute content while also supporting live content across mobile and TV platforms. With this exciting acquisition, we are continuing to redefine the boundaries of streaming and bring about the next generation of media and entertainment.”
