PLANETech World 2022, one of the world’s largest climate-tech conferences and the first of its kind to be held in Israel, will see the participation of the world’s leading climate-tech investors and more than100 Israeli Startups. It will take place on September 21st, in Tel Aviv.
The conference is an initiative of PLANETech, a joint venture of the Israel Institute for Innovation and Consensus Business Group and will be held in partnership with the Israel Innovation Authority. More than 1,500 participants from Israel and the world will participate in it, as well as 100 climate tech startups and ventures that will present their technology.
One of the main goals of the conference is to promote discourse and raise awareness of technological innovation that provides an answer to the global climate crisis and to showcase the most innovative and creative solutions that the Israeli high-tech industry has for the crisis. One of the ways to achieve this goal will be by presenting leading technologies in accordance to the “Climate Challenges Map”, in five different arenas: Built Environment, Materials & Manufacturing, Land Use, Nature and Digital.

This will reveal the extensive activity and contribution of Israeli startups and ventures in the international arena, in the attempt to deal with the climate challenges, which are becoming more and more complex every year.

Over recent years, climate-tech has become one of the hottest trends in Israeli high-tech, inspiring a wave of entrepreneurs, investors and corporates to contribute to the fight against the climate crisis. They do so with what they know best – developing innovative technology, in a wide variety of fields, including: clean energy systems, climate smart agriculture, alternative proteins, sustainable mobility & transportation, eco-efficient water infrastructure, and more.
According to the Israel’s State of Climate Tech 2021 report, published by the Israel Innovation Authority and PLANETech, it appears that there is a significant increase in companies and startups that are engaged in the field. In 2020, 9% of established companies in Israel were engaged in the climate field. Currently, there are approximately 637 high-tech companies and startups operating in Israel, developing various climate technologies.
During the conference, 10 leading startups will be selected to represent Israel at the UN Climate Conference COP27, as a delegation of PLANETech and the Israel Innovation Authority, where they will present the technological solutions they have developed to deal with the various climate challenges in front of the some of the leading organizations in the world. COP27, that will be held in Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt, this coming November, aims to coordinate joint international measures and efforts, and make it possible to reduce the climate crisis impact.
PLANETech is a non-profit organization that was established as a joint venture of the Israel Innovation Institute and Consensus Business Group, aims to lead the Israeli ecosystem in the field of climate-tech and to provide knowledge, tools, investment opportunities, partnerships and a network of connections, which will allow Israel to become a global leader in the field.
