Israel’s Bizzabo Buys America’s X.ai

The purchase price was not disclosed.

Israeli events platform Bizzabo has acquired the American startup X.ai. X.ai developed a platform which automates meetings for people located across different time zones. It sends follow-ups and reminders, managing cancellations and setting new times. The purchase price was not disclosed.

However much the acquisition cost, Bizzabo certainly has enough cash on hand to make the purchase. Bizzabo raised $138 million in Series E funding last December.

Founded in 2014, x.ai is a technology company with a mission to make meeting scheduling obsolete. X.ai boasts that it has built a scheduling network that enables instant, autonomous meeting scheduling. The company states that it believes in “invisible software, kindness as a design principle, and the power of AI to increase human potential.”

Founded in 2012 by CEO Eran Ben-Shushan, Alon Alroy, and Boaz Katz, Beizzabo has raised over $190 million to date, according to Crunchbase. The three founders have met in the Zell Entrepreneurship Program at IDC, Herzliya.

Bizzabo’s platform for conferences helps organizers create events that take place online and offline. It also helps organizers understand how the conference is working for them in terms of Return on Event.

In a blog post, Eran Ben-Shuhan said, “I’m thrilled to announce that Bizzabo is acquiring x.ai, a powerful technology company and a leader in AI scheduling & matchmaking, to help create personalized event experiences.”

Ben-Shushan explained that by acquiring x.ai Bizzabo is “making great strides toward the very mission Bizzabo was founded on — to create impactful and rewarding experiences at events.” With x.ai’s powerful AI infrastructure, 5,000 different attendees can have 5,000 different experiences, each curated and personalized for them.

Bizzabo’s all-in-one event platform will now offer new capabilities provided by X.ai’s tech. These will include “Meeting Scheduler” which will allow attendees to “easily schedule meetings with each other, whether they’re in-person or virtual.”

“Bizzabo For Exhibitors” will enable companies presenting at events with state-of-the-art meeting management technology to find and engage their most relevant customers.

“Smart Recommendations” will increase participants’ satisfaction by personalizing their event journey and proactively recommending relevant content and people to meet with.

Dennis Mortensen, CEO and founder of X.ai, said in a blog post on his company’s website, “Over the coming months and years, we’ll be working with the Bizzabo team to build the future of events. We’ll be leveraging the x.ai scheduling engine to make it easier for event participants to make meaningful connections — powering both the discovery of who should meet as well as when and how.
