The digital venture of Mati Kochavi and his daughter Maya won the WEBBY (“Internet Oscars“) award for Best Story Use of Social Media category for 2020.
The series that took to Instagram on Holocaust Day last year, tells the true story of a Jewish girl Eva Heiman murdered in a concentration camp. The stories documenting the girl’s life if she had social networks at the time – from childhood in Hungary to gas chambers Auschwitz.

“Eva Stories” has become a worldwide success, with more than 300 million views, as well as media coverage in 70 countries, to which about a billion people have been exposed.
The WEBBY Academy Award, a panel of a thousand men and women, picked up “Eva Stories” alongside the TV show Saturday Night Live.
Eva Stories has already won five New York Festival Advertising Awards and two LIA Awards, an International Advertising Award in London. When the project was released last year, it also received promotion and support from many popular sources, including the White House, comedian Sarah Silverman, and actress Gal Gadot.
“The People of Israel did the ‘Story of Eva’ by adopting it, loving it and following it,” Mati and Maya Kochavi said after winning, “followed by hundreds of millions of viewers from around the world. Winning at WEBBY is important because it will focus public attention again for her life of Eva, a 13-year-old girl who suffered and was murdered in Auschwitz for being a Jewish girl. That’s the purpose we set out for. ”
This year, on the occasion of International Holocaust Day in January, “Eva Stories” returned to the headlines thanks to another star-studded initiative by world leaders who wrote on Eva’s Instagram account anti-Semitism messages, promising to preserve the memory of the Holocaust. Leaders including State President Reuben Rivlin, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and German President Frank Walter Steinmeier.
