(MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica – February 19, 2019) While attending the 25th annual International Mediterranean Tourism Market Expo (IMTM19) in Tel Aviv last week (February 12-13), Jamaican Tourism Minister, Hon. Edmund Bartlett, met with several major Israeli hotel brands to discuss investing in Jamaica. Brown Hotels Co-Founder Leon Avigad expressed significant interest and plans to visit the island soon to concretize plans.

“Our meetings at the International Mediterranean Tourism Market Expo were very fruitful, as a number of hoteliers, including the luxury brand Brown Hotels, showed genuine interest in investing in Jamaican tourism,” said the Minister. “Brown’s properties are very trendy and high-end, similar to the Hard Rock brand, and I am sure it will be a great addition to our Kingston or Montego Bay offerings.”

Brown Hotels is a rapidly-expanding global boutique hotel brand with roots in Tel Aviv. Conceived by native Israelis, Leon Avigad and Nitzan Perry, with partner Nir Waizman, their properties include four hotels in Tel Aviv, two in Jerusalem and one in Croatia.

The Minister noted that Avigad and Perry accepted his invitation to visit Jamaica during the upcoming Jamaica Rum Festival, which is being presented by J. Wray & Nephew Limited’s Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum brand in partnership with the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) and the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF) in Kingston from March 9-10.

“I am looking forward to continuing our discussions when the Brown Hotel team arrives in Kingston next month. I am especially excited that they will get an opportunity to attend this major food festival, which will help them better understand why Jamaica is the perfect fit for Brown Hotels – a paradise known for its natural beauty, music and rum that appeals to young and trendy travelers in search of luxury.”
