Sylvester Stallone Flattered But Not Interested In Trump Offer to Head The National Endowment for the Arts

While flattered, Sylvester Stallone said that he would decline an offer from Donald Trump to run the National Endowment for the Arts. People from the Trump transition team had reportedly made such and offer to the Rocky star.

“I am incredibly flattered to have been suggested to be involved with the National Endowment of the Arts, ” said Sylvester Stallone in a statement.

The NEA, which has an annual budget of more than $150 million, has long been targeted by Republicans as a waste of taxpayers’ money. And the 70 year old Oscar winner has said that he would rather take a position in the Trump Administration helping America’s military veterans.

“I believe I could be more effective by bringing national attention to returning military personnel in an effort to find gainful employment, suitable housing and financial assistance these heroes respectfully deserve, ” Sylvester Stallone’s statement said.

Its interesting that Sylvester Stallone, whose mother was Jewish, would say that. While he became known for rescuing American soldiers still held captive by the Vietnamese when he played Rambo in the 1980s, Stallone himself never served in the military in spite of being of draft age during the Vietnam War.
