Susan Sarandon Backs Jill Stein for President — Well Somebody Has To

susan-sarandon

Susan Sarandon has endorsed Jill Stein for President. This should make all the difference in the elections next week.

A former backer of Bernie Sanders failed campaign, Sarandon has chosen not to follow his lead and get behind the only liberal candidate who could possibly win. The Oscar winner does not seem concerned that supporting Jill Stein may help elect Donald Trump.

Bernie Sanders understands the danger in helping Donald Trump win. The Senator said, “This is not the time for a protest vote, in terms of a presidential campaign. This is time to elect Hillary Clinton and then work after the election to mobilize millions of people to make sure she can be the most progressive president she can be.” But Susan thinks otherwise.

Susan Sarandon made the endorsement known by posting a letter on Jill Stein’s campaign web site. The Green Party’s candidates have shown their appreciation for Sarandon’s support by commenting one her Instagram posts. The following post had this comment added: “I’m so happy you didn’t get in line like so many! I’m so hyped that you use your platform for the good of the world! Thank you for investing your vote for the Green Party!”

The actress also wrote:

“Fear of Donald Trump is not enough for me to support Clinton, with her record of corruption. Now that Trump is self-destructing, I feel even those in swing states have the opportunity to vote their conscience.”

Tell that to Al Gore supporters from 2000 and to all of those people who would have voted Gore in Florida that year but who voted for Ralph Nader. And with the race tightening, Republicans who vote for Gary Johnson could also be making the same mistake.

The problem with fringe candidates is that they can promise us the sun and know that they will never need to come through because they never win. The so called mainstream candidates know that the President cannot simply do whatever he or she wants and always needs to work with the other party and compromise even when their party controls the Congress.

This is one of the big criticisms of what Donald Trump has been saying. He keeps making promises to do things by fiat when the President of the United States has no such powers.

Sarandon added, “They’re both (Trump and Clinton) talking to Henry Kissinger. She did not learn from Iraq, and she is an interventionist, and she has done horrible things – and very callously. I don’t know if she is overcompensating or what her trip is. That scares me. I think we’ll be in Iran in two seconds.”

This comment is a head spinner. What is she talking about here?

Susan Sarandon also shared this picture showing a horse’s butt.

But maybe she should have used the rear of a different animal, because that is what Sarandon should be compared to. After last week’s revelations of Stein’s investments in Big oil, Tobacco, Defense contractors and financial firms like Goldman Sachs, it is clear that the woman does not practice what she preaches.

And Stein has zero chance of winning. So why endorse her now? Even if a thousand celebrities came out in her favor. Jill Stein still would not carry a single state. She will be lucky to get even close to 2% of the national vote next Tuesday. So Hillary Clinton supporters certainly have reason to be disappointed right now in Susan Sarandon.
