In real life the house is located at 12 Picket Post, about 25 miles west of London, in the suburban town of Bracknell in Berkshire. Don’t underestimate this quiet place however. In spiffy Berkshire you will live close to nearby Windsor Castle, the Ascot race course, the parents of the Duchess of Cambridge, and even current U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May.

In 2003, at the height of global Harry Potter mania, the three bedroom house with a back yard and garage, was sold for £249, 000 Great British pounds ($325, 000).

Not above the market price at the time. Also today the price is right on the money given its famous contemporary history.

But what an history it is too. Once, long long ago, when Harry Potter lived his first 11 years, chez his evil uncle and aunt, Vernon and Petunia Dursley, the street was called “4 Privet Drive”, and a wizard lived in a cupboard under the stairs.

Don’t tell the kids.
