Curbed  NY says that the tower was reported to be 68 stories, then 71, then 56, then 80. Permits for a 56-story tower were issued, but now Extell has filed an amendment to jack the height back up to 68 stories and 800 feet (h/t 6sqft).

DNAinfo reports that Extell representatives would not comment on the plans or confirm the height, but the Department of Buildings approved the changes. New permits have not yet been issued.
