In an interview to IGN, in December while promoting his film Big Eyes, Tim Burton said, “There’s only one Betelgeuse, and that’s Michael. There is a script, and I would love to work with him again. I think there is now a better chance than ever, ”.
Burton then added “I miss that character. There’s something that’s cathartic and amazing about it. I think it’s closer than ever.”
Ryder didn’t give any more details though she’s indicated before that the second film boasts a script by Dark Shadows’ Seth Grahame-Smith that picks up a full 27 years after the original film.
