“‘Sandman’ was written over the course of whatever — I forget exactly, six or seven years. One at a time. One little 20-page issue at a time. And to try to take that and make it into something that’s a feature film—a movie that has a beginning, middle and end—is complicated.”

He also posted a very long comment on Facebook about the second season of his “Hit Record on TV.” Here is part of it:

“So here it is, Ladies and Gentlemen, the first episode of Season 2 of Hit Record On TV! As you might or might not know, every episode of our variety show has a theme, and this episode’s theme is RE: THE DARK. So there’s a darkly animated short film where bullies are personified as wolves and a juicebox makes a bloody metaphor; there’s a dark comedy written by Mindy Kaling starring her, Chris Messina (my dance partner) and me; there’s a dark ritual of a song that a bunch of us sang, danced, and shot around a fire in the middle of the night out in the woods; and tons of other little bits and bops, musings, musics, and magicks.”
