Ari Teman Homeless Because of Airbnb Orgy

Teman returned to a vandalized home which was used by the renters for a sex party.

New York based comic Ari Teman can’t get anyone to rent him an apartment. This is because all of the New York landlords know about the orgy which was held in an apartment which he sublet through Airbnb.

That’s right! Teman sublet his Manhattan apartment with Airbnb and the people who rented it held an orgy there which they filmed for a pornographic movie.

Apparently the organizers charged a $20 admission fee.

So let this be a warning to everyone out there thinking of subleting their apartments for short periods of time. First of all you have no idea what the renter might do. And while Airbnb has insurance and promises to reimburse users for damages — as it did in Teman’s case — why do would anyone want to have to go through something like this and possibly see irreplaceable personal items destroyed?

It is also against the law in New York City to make such short term rentals and if you are a renter than your lease almost certainly prohibits them.

So when something like this happens, it should come as no surprise that the person will have trouble getting anyone to rent to him again.

“I just don’t know where I’m going to sleep next, and that’s getting to be annoying, ” the 33 year old Jewish comedian told the NY Daily news.

While we certainly feel bad for Mr. Teman, he certainly must have known that he was taking a risk by subletting and probably violating the terms of his lease.

Airbnb released a statement when the story first broke saying, “Over 11 million guests have had a safe and positive experience on Airbnb and problems for hosts and guests are incredibly rare, but when they happen, we try to help make things right.”
