Fred Wilpon’s New York Mets are in trouble. After a brilliant 11 game win streak in April, the team is now barely over 500 after a run of dismal series against the better teams in baseball.

On Friday, for example, they scored only 2 runs in a 4-2 loss to the Marlins with their ace Matt Harvey on the mound and have now gone to a six man rotation to protect their pitchers.

As the NY Post reports, the biggest intrigue surrounding the Mets might be a potential timetable for getting the stud lefty Matz to the major leagues.

Matz is 6-3 with a 1.98 ERA in 11 appearances for Triple-A Las Vegas and has been limited to 77 and 79 pitches, respectively, in his last two starts, according to an organizational source, because the Mets are trying to save his bullets for the big stage.
