Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s second inauguration’s guest list read like that for a White House dinner.
Former President Bill Clinton and former Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley were there—all smiles. Lyric Opera soprano Renee Fleming sang a grand rendition of “America the Beautiful, ” and when the Apostolic Church of God Praise Team marched down the aisles of the Chicago Theatre and up to the stage with a hip, boisterous song of thanks to God, I thought the mayor was going to join in.
