Daily News suitors dropping out as deadline approaches

The auction of Mort Zuckerman’s foundering Daily News is cooling off fast as the May 18 deadline for final bids approaches.

Cablevision boss James Dolan — who has been a bitter opponent of Zuckerman for years — is said to be dropping his $1 bid for the paper and its Jersey City, NJ, printing presses.
