As hysteria swells and more girls succumb, a series of tightly held secrets emerge, threatening to unravel friendships, families and the town’s fragile idea of security. Sounds kind of like a Steven King novel.

The book’s website declares that, “The Fever offers a chilling story about guilt, family secrets, and the lethal power of desire.”

Entertainment Weekly published part of a statement from Parker and Pretty Matches Productions which read, “We are thrilled to be working with Megan Abbott, one of the most exciting voices working in literature today. A master of suspense, Megan’s drama is a searing portrait of the female adolescent psyche that is on haunting display in her gripping novel, The Fever.”

Meanwhile Parker’s former Sex in the City co-star Kristin Davis told the New York Daily News about how excited she is to see Parker’s new upcoming HBO series “Divorce.” Davis played the one of Parker’s friends on the show who converted to Judaism to marry a Jewish guy.

“I’m in shock, ” David told the Daily News’ Confidenti@l column at BTIG’s 13th Annual BTIG Commissions for Charity Day Tuesday. “Whatever she wants to do I’m excited for her. I am curious to watch it, I know that entire cast. I am very excited and curious.”
