The Worst of the Dursts: Weirdo Robert Pleads Not Guilty to Gun Charges

Durst’s attorneys say that the prior convictions don’t make it illegal for him to carry a firearm.

Robert Durst

Wealthy weirdo Robert Durst, whose story has inspired an HBO Documentary “The Jinx” about his erratic behavior and mysterious deaths linked to him, pleaded not guilty to gun charges, as reported by the NY Post.

Durst was found in a hotel room with marijuana and a Smith and Wesson revolver in a New Orleans Hotel room. He is being held without bail for the gun charges, and must stand trial before being extradited to Los Angeles to face charges over the 2000 death of Susan Berman, who was murdered execution style. Berman was a close friend of Durst’s and it is suspected that he may have been concerned over information she might have had about the disappearance of Durst’s wife in 1982.

Durst pleaded guilty to two federal charges for firearms possession, but his attorneys say that the prior convictions don’t make it illegal for him to carry a firearm. Durst was arrested just prior to the airing of “The Jinx” after he had made some off the air remarks suggesting that he did commit the murders. Other offenses that the disgraced scion of the Durst real estate dynasty has gotten away with (so far) include chopping up a neighbor, peeing in a cash register and shoplifting sandwiches.
