WATCH: Attack Ad on Rahm Emanuel’s Uber Ties ABC Station Won’t Run

The station justified its refusal saying the ad was making false accusations.


Chicago ABC affiliate WLS Channel 7 is refusing to run a an attack ad vilifying Mayor Rahm Emanuel as a corrupt investor banker who made $18 millions off his relationships with billionaires.

Specifically, the ad accuses the incumbent mayor, who is fighting for his political future in a runoff election, of using his connections to make his brother Ari a billion dollars from an Uber investment.

But The Chicago-Sun Times’ Lynn Sweet told Tucker Carlson on Fox & Friends: “Almost everything in that ad had been well covered by the media. In fact, almost every point was discussed. This mayor’s race and Rahm’s struggle to keep in office is not a surprise to the people who live in Chicago.”

Noting that Emanuel’s real competition is himself, Swwet added: “Right now, I think Rahm’s challenge is to build a coalition. Rahm doesn’t have that kind of streetwise, grassroots momentum that [his opponent] Chuy Garcia has.”
