Howard Kurtz is Feuding with the Huffington Post

Fox News media critic Howard Kurtz is now feuding with Ariana Huffington and her Huffington Post.

Fox News terror analyst Steve Emerson had said on the network that Birmingham, England was a city populated mostly by Muslims. He added that Sharia law was in effect there and that there were places where non-Muslims could not go.

Fox did make a correction to Emerson’s statements, but this was missed by the Huffington Post. Also, most importantly, Emerson was just a guest on the network. A guest is someone with no affiliation with a news channel who just appears for a specific interview or to give one time commentary. This differs from a contributor who is a paid staff member hired to give opinions and background information on stories from time to time.

“Speaking of mistakes by the way, several news outlets wrongly identified Emerson, with the Huffington Post variously calling him Fox News contributor, a Fox News expert, and Fox news idiot, rather than just a guest.”
