Ayelet Zurer to Appear in New Daredevil Series for Netflix

Ayelet Zurer

Israeli actress Ayelet Zurer is set to appear in the premiere episode of the upcoming Netflix original series Daredevil. Expected to be released sometime in March, all of the new program’s 13 episodes will be made available for live streaming at the same time for binge watching, which has become the custom for original Internet based programing from services like Netflix.

This is the actress’ second time playing a comic book character. The Tel Aviv native played Superman’s natural mother in 2013’s “Man of Steel.”

This time Zurer, 45, will play Vanessa Fisk, the wife of Wilson Fisk who is also known as the “Kingpin” of crime. He will be played on the show by Law and Order alum Vincent D’Onofrio.

According to Marvel Wikia, Vanessa loves her husband very much but disapproves of his ways. While she does not have any superpowers and is generally non-violent, Vanessa knows how to be cruel and how to manipulate a situation to her advantage.

There is no word yet as to how faithful the show will be to its source material, though. Comic book fans around the world will of course be watching closely to check on how respectively Netflix treats their beloved characters.

This will be the second time that the Daredevil character has been portrayed on film. A 2013 film which starred Ben Affleck in the title role bombed at the box office.

Charlie Cox (Boardwalk Empire) will play Matt Murdock/Daredevil on the new show. The cast will also include Deborah Ann Woll (True Blood), Scott Glenn (The Leftovers) and Vondie Curtis-Hall (Chicago Hope).
