According to GoEuro, the average 5 star hotel will cost you $609 a night, 4 star $150, 3 star $109, 2 star 95 and 1 star $80. The good news is that you can get a hostel for $21.

The list was topped by New York, followed by St. Moritz, Switzerland, Macao, Miami and Nassau. East Europe and North Africa are the cheapest places to go. Tirana, Albania made the bottom of the list and Sofia, Bulgaria was number 148. Hammamet, Tunisia came in at 149 and Cairo at 147.

Jerusalem also placed 6th on the list of top 20 most expensive cities for 5 star hotels.

For some reason Tel Aviv was not even mentioned. Perhaps GoEuro was making some sort of a political statement or maybe it just feels that Tel Aviv is a business traveler’s destination and Jerusalem a tourist one.
