Blumberg Grain Revolutionizing Food Storage in Egypt

Blumberg Grains

In the Bible, Joseph became viceroy of Egypt by giving the Egyptians advice on how to store their grain to avoid the seven lean years. Now Blumberg Grain is partnering with the Egyptian government to improve grain storage, as reported by Wisconsin Ag. The technology should prove to be one of the world’s most sophisticated food security systems.

Blumberg will deal with 93 grain storage sites throughout Egypt, a country that has been hit with post harvest losses. David Blumberg comments, “This begins the implementation of Minister Hanafy’s vision for Egypt to become the food security center for the Middle East.” Blumberg is working with the Army Engineering Authority to store and deliver grain where it is needed.

Blumberg intends to expand operations to import food technology all over the Middle East. Christian Rath, head of applied engineering for Blumberg, said, “The Blumberg grain manufacturing plant would be one of the largest of its kind, with a production capacity of 1, 200 food storage buildings annually and the capability of manufacturing food security equipment, both for the Egyptian market and for the export ‘Made in Egypt’ food storage systems throughout the Middle East.”

The facilities should create 1, 000 new jobs, generated $1 billion in revenue the first year and $7 billion in the future.
