Security forces foiled an attack plan against Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman during the last Gaza war, Israel’s internal security service revealed Thursday night.
A collaborative effort of the Shabac, IDF and police, exposed in recent weeks a Hamas squad, whose members, residents of Bethlehem, attempted to purchase an RPG anti-tank missile to hit the Minister’s vehicle.

The squad members have been indited at the Judea Military Court for conspiracy to cause manslaughter and conspiracy to traffic weapons.
Interrogation of members of the Hamas squad revealed it was headed by Mahmud Salim Ibrahim Wazir, a senior Hamas activist from the Hramelh village near Bethlehem, who has served prison terms for terrorist activities.
During the Gaza operation, Wazir began to formulate a plan to eliminate FM Lieberman, in order to “deliver a message” to Israel and bring an end to the fighting.
