Move over, Sigmund Freud, make room for Professor Twitter. Seriously, some of the best diagnoses today are made based on people’s tweets, and one of the most diagnosed mental patient of the hour has to be Amanda Laura Bynes. According to Wikipedia, Amanda’s mom, Lynn, comes from a long line of Romanian, Russian, and Polish Jews, so this content is totally tribal.
Last week Amanda Bynes tweeted about being diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

Also last week, TMZ offered an audio recording, allegedly of Bynes, where she said she wanted to murder her parents. TMZ says the recording was made last week, by Bynes’ roommate, in a moving car.
Bynes has been arrested many times, hospitalized involuntarily, and now, this kill my parents thing, she’s obviously crying out for help:
“If your father was my father … then you would understand why you’d want to slit his wrists … I haven’t decided how I want to murder him … I don’t believe in murder … He literally like is the worst person … Nothing would give me greater pleasure than like slitting his throat. That is what I would love to do.”
Much of her rage has to do with the fact that her parents are not allowing her access to her money, because, even though she earned it, as court appointed guardians, it’s their job to make sure she doesn’t use it to hurt herself or others. So she’s getting about $50 a day, we understand, to limit the amount of pain she can inflict within a 24-hour period.
“I’m gonna continue telling you guys I’m gonna murder my family, like, ’cause that’s the thing that, like, they’re in control of my money, and that’s why I don’t have much money right now.”
You know, if she had the money, arranging the demise of one’s parents can be surprisingly affordable…
I’m just saying.
“Amanda Bynes has mentioned at least two mental illnesses in the past four years, ” blogs the Guardian’s Clara Goode. “She has spoken about having an eating disorder, being sexually abused … and has said that she was diagnosed manic-depressive and bipolar. Despite her follow-up tweets that said the post about being bi-polar was written by a friend, her erratic behavior does coincide with the diagnosis.”
In a follow up TMZ report, Bynes said she was joking about murdering her dad, insisting she doesn’t want to kill her family.
An anti-psychiatrists blogger named Harold Mandel says Bynes is suffering from too much medical intervention, recommending instead that Bynes “lead a naturally healthy lifestyle with adequate daily rest, exercise, fresh air, and good nutrition.”
And then murder her parents…
