Jay Roach Directing Bryan Cranston as Blacklisted Hollywood Writer ‘Trumbo’

Director Jay Roach, who gave us Recount, Game Change, and The Campaign, is working on a recent-history drama titled Trumbo, First Showing reports.

It’s about screenwriter Dalton Trumbo, a real historical figure, who refused to testify before the House Un-American Activities Committee regarding his ties to the Communist party.

Trumbo became blacklisted and sentenced to close to a year in prison, but continued to write movies, and now he’ll be portrayed by Breaking Bad Emmy winner Bryan Cranston.

Dalton Trumbo wrote masterpieces like Spartacus and Roman Holiday.

Also in the cast: John Goodman, Helen Mirren, Louis C.K., Elle Fanning, Michael Stuhlbarg.
