Meekan Universal Scheduling App Raises $870, 000

Meekan, the Israeli-based startup which created a scheduling application technology that it boasts will connect the world’s calendars, has announced a seed funding round of $870, 000. The company said that it will use the new funds towards developing a portfolio of products based on Meekan’s patent-pending technology, as well as expanding its R&D and sales workforce.

$750, 000 came from Horizons Ventures and $120, 000 from private investors.

Based in Tel Aviv, Meekan was founded in 2013 by a father-son duo, Lior & Eyal Yavor, along with veteran product executive Matty Mariansky. Its scheduling & optimization engines are the core of the technology, alongside the Flexible Time Algorithm. Three months ago the company released a beta version of its iOS app for iPhone and iPad devices, which aims at simplifying scheduling of business meetings.

The Meekan app, the company boasts, simplifies scheduling by pinpointing the best times for the meeting, taking into account free/busy availability, time zones and working hours of all attendees, regardless of the calendar program they’re using (Gmail, Google Apps, Exchange/Office365.com and iCloud).

“We are honored to have Horizons Ventures as our investors and welcome Gilad Novik to our board of directors. Over the past months we’ve worked hard on developing a portfolio of products that will provide the best value for consumers and businesses alike”, said Lior Yavor, Co-Founder & CEO. “The scheduling & optimization engines we develop can disrupt several industries and we have much more in store.”

Gilad Novik, CTO at Horizons Ventures said, ‘”Scheduling meetings is a daily task, and it is also often a time consuming one, especially when different time zones and many parties are involved. Bolstered by the Flexible Time Algorithm, Meekan takes the hassle out of this task, and provides a simple solution to an avoidable inconvenience, allowing us to work more efficiently – it is much more than a productivity or calendar app. We are thrilled Meekan is joining the family at Horizons Labs.”

The company is continuing to develop its portfolio of products, which includes the iPhone/iPad app and an API for 3rd party developers and online booking services. An Android app and an Outlook plugin are coming soon, along with an enterprise product for businesses running on Microsoft Exchange.
