Departing CEO Zingale May Hand Jive Over to Elisa Steele

Tony Zingale

Tony Zingale, who has been CEO of Jive for five years since its IPO is leaving as chief to become executive chairman, according re/code. He is certainly departing on a high notes; sales at $46.6 million surpassed Wall Street expectations of $44.3 million and rose 25% year over year. It reported a loss that was a little less than half of what analysts were expecting.

The search for a new CEO is expected to begin November 10, but it isn’t likely Jive will have to look far. Zingale has made no secret of the fact that he wants Elisa Steele for the job. Steel joined in January as chief marketing officer after working for Microsoft, Skype, Yahoo and NetApp. She is going to be the interim CEO while the search is taking place, if a real search needs to be undertaken at all. Zingale said, “The board has a responsibility to exhaust all of its choices, but Elisa is our leading candidate internally. She’s been my partner at this company for rejuvenating our strategy.”
