Israeli Foreign Minister’s Daughter Opens Up About Epilepsy

Michal Liberman-Galon

Michal Liberman-Galon, the daughter of Israeli Foreign Minister, Avigdor Liberman, came public about her struggle with epilepsy on social media, as reported by the Jerusalem post. She posted on Facebook a picture of herself lying on a hospital bed and describing her condition. She spoke frankly, “Let’s talk about epilepsy. My epilepsy. On the Eve of Rosh Hashana I was leisurely cooking. I suffered an epileptic attack  that ended with me falling against the door of a hot oven. I suffered third degree burns on my chest, leg and hand. I was rushed to the hospital, and I’ve been here for five weeks (but who’s counting)?”

Because she is confined to the hospital and is still in pain, Michal said she felt the “virtual route” was best. She posted, “Epilepsy is not a dirty word. It’s not a source of shame. There is no reason to hide it. On the contrary. The more we are aware of this illness, the more we are able to help and support those who are afflicted with it and their families.”
