In the second meeting in a week on the subject, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu discussed with government officials ways to prevent the incursion of Ebola into Israel’s borders. The decision, according to Times of Israel, is to tighten border patrols and to increase screening and and questioning of those who cross the border into Israel by air, land or sea from countries that have high rates of Ebola, such as Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia.
Travel advisories have been issued to Israelis to avoid going to countries where Ebola is spreading, and the head of Ben Gurion airport, Shmuel Zakai has dispatched a “very large deployment” to prevent those carrying the virus to enter undetected. Professor Arnon Afek, head of the Health Ministry has been in contact with medical experts worldwide on effective ways to treat the virus. Those returning from countries heavily affected by Ebola are urged to get checked. The death toll from Ebola in is highest in Liberia, at 2, 200, with 3, 865 fatalities worldwide.

One person has died from Ebola in the United States, and now the nurse who was treating him has been infected, in spite of a secure outfit she wore designed to prevent her from catching it. While U.S. airports are now taking temperatures of passengers coming off of planes, this would not have been enough to spot Eric Duncan, the first Ebola casualty in America in the recent outbreak, from entering the country, because he did not yet have a fever when traveling. According to some experts, an Ebola patient is only contagious when he or she has symptoms.
