Jon Stewart Out Sick, Please Pray for Him, Get Your Mi-Sh’Beirach Prayer Here

Jason Jones took over the Daily Show anchor’s desk Tuesday, filling in for Jon Stewart, who was out sick with an illness Jones described as something only affects people from New Jersey.

So we don’t know what Stewart has. But as avid watchers of the Daily Show since the day the young, slim, black haired Stewart has taken over from that blond goy Craig Kilborn, who then never amounted to much, we know our lad never, ever missed a show, except this summer, when he was shooting a movie.

So he’s in trouble. And we do know what Jews do for a fellow Hebrew who falls ill – we say a “Me Sh’Beirach” (prayer for the sick) for him, mentioning his and his mother’s Hebrew names.

Mi Shebeirach et avoteinu Avraham Yitzchak v’Yaakov, Hu y’vareich et at Yonatan ben Miriam ba’avur she’anu mitpalelim ba’avuro. U’bis’char zeh HaKadosh Baruch Hu yishm’reihu v’yatzileihu mikol tzarah v’tzukah u’mikol nega u’machalah, v’yishlach b’rachah v’hatzlachah b’chol maaseh yadav, im kol Yisrael echav, v’nomar Amen.

(May He who blessed our forefathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, bless and heal Yonatan the son of Miriam because we pray for him. And for that, may the Blessed Holy One guard him and save him from all trouble and all illness, and send bless everything he does, together with the entire nation of Israel, and we say Amen.

That’s it. Say it either in Hebrew or in English, say it by yourselves, say it with friends, say it in synagogue tomorrow, when they take out the Torah to celebrate the Sukkot Festival.
