Woman Who Said ‘No’ to Harvey Weinstein Starts Own Company

The Weinstein Company And Lexus Present The 2nd Annual Lexus Short Films "Life is Amazing"

Meryl Poster, the woman Adweek said was one of the few “who could say ‘No’ to Harvey Weinstein” is leaving Miramax after 16 years to start her own company, Superb Entertainment. Poster worked at Miramax for Harvey and Bob Weinstein until 2005, when she left for a deal with NBC Universal. She returned in 2011 to launch television shows “Project Runway” and VH1’s “Mob Wives.”Superb has backing from A&E, not surprising, given Poster’s long-standing friendship with A&E CEO Nancy Dubuc.

Poster discussed her working relationship with Harvey Weinstein with Emma Bazilian of AdWeek; “I am who I am, and I’m a very honest person. Harvey respects that about me and knows that when I argue with him, it’s not that I have an agenda. It is what I feel is best for the company.”

When asked if she thinks reality shows exploit their stars, Poster responded, “It’s quite the opposite. They have tremendous opportunity doing these shows. Their lives become so much richer and fuller, and they have a chance to see a world they would have never had the chance to see.”
