Abe Wallach, an associate of Donald Trump’s, is busy trying to refute claims that he once drugged a competitor over New York’s GM Tower with sleeping pills and tried to explain the situation to The Real Deal.
The accusation is made in a new book coming out this month about the building by Viki Ward titled, The Liar’s Ball: The Extraordinary Saga of How One Building Broke the World’s Toughest Tycoons. According to Ward, Wallach, who then worked as Trump’s head of acquisition, told her so himself when she interviewed him for the book. Apparently Wallach was concerned that he had given the rival in the bidding for the tower too big a dose.

Apparently the two men were on a long flight together and Wallach doped his competitor so that he could sneak a peek at the man’s confidential documents while he slept.
Now Wallach has told The Real Deal that he never said any such thing to Ward. Instead, he asserts, Ward used stories that Wallach had written in his memoirs and which he says contained fabrications that he added to make them more interesting to publishers.
Ward has categorically denied Wallach’s version of events, telling The Real Deal that, “I have two signed statements I can email you from Abe confirming his account of the drugging episode. It is all footnoted and sourced in the book.”
Whatever Wallach did or did not do, Trump eventually won the bidding for the iconic Fifth Ave building located opposite the Plaza Hotel on Fifth Ave, but sold it soon thereafter.
There is no word yet on whether or not Wallach intends to file a libel lawsuit.
