At $148 Sara Blakely’s Spanx Has your Butt Covered in Jeans

Spanx

We’ve all seen the visible underwear look that was at one time associated with plumbers, but became all the rage, thanks (or not thanks) to the likes of Justin Bieber. Now Spanx takes the trend all the way out as the underwear company moves into jeans that slim, lift and do about anything you want but  remove and wash themselves.

The Signature is priced at $148 and has a control-top midsection with a slimming waistband and zip-up sides. Without going to the gym, the wearer, according to founder Sara Blakely will find the jeans will tame the tummy, trim the thighs and lift the rear.

Blakely took all the problems associated with jeans into account and came up with a solution for muffin tops and thigh bunching. The Spanx jeans have a triple thread technology that incorporates two stretch threads for every regular thread. The one red rivet at the back lets everyone know that these are Spanx jeans.

Spanx jeans are available online and will appear at Bloomingdales and Dillards on August 25. Sarah Blakely also plans to open a specialty store in Santa Monica. Before she got into Spanx, Blakely was a stand-up comedienne but insists she “wasn’t that funny.” However, her tagline for  Spanx; “We’ve got your butt covered, ” is frank and appealing.
