MBAF’s Manuel E. Pravia Appointed to The Florida Institute of CPA Committee on Nominations

Online PR News – 19-June-2014 – MIAMI Manuel E. Pravia, CPA, a principal in the Tax and Accounting Department at nationally recognized public accounting firm Morrison, Brown, Argiz & Farra, LLC (MBAF), was recently appointed to serve a two-year term as member-at-large on the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ (FICPA) Committee on Nominations. Pravia will begin his term on July 1, 2014.

The FICPA’s Committee on Nominations is responsible for nominating officers and members-at-large to the Board of Governors; the organization’s four standing committees; and as Florida members of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ (AICPA) Council. The Committee on Nominations is comprised of nine members: two immediate past chairs, the chair-elect and six members-at-large. Pravia has served on the FICPA’s Federal Taxation Committee for the past seven years, including chairing the committee for the 2013-2014 year.

Pravia has more than 20 years of experience in public accounting, and his knowledge spans a variety of practice areas including international tax and corporate tax. He is an adjunct professor at Florida International University (FIU) in the School of Accounting, is a regular presenter at continuing education seminars, and has authored articles for Florida CPA Today magazine. A leader in the civic community as well, Pravia has served as past chair of the Audit Committee of the United Way of Miami-Dade, and has served on the organization’s Community Investments Committee.

Pravia holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Miami and a Master of Science in Taxation from Florida International University. He is part of the University of Miami Alumni Association, and he has served on the board of directors for the Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity, as well as a past board member of the FIU School of Business Alumni Chapter.
